Free Online Whiteboard
The iTutorzz Whiteboard is a free online whiteboard with no sign-up. Open a board, draw on an infinite canvas, and share the link - anyone who opens it draws alongside you in real time. It runs in any browser, on desktop, tablet or phone, anywhere in the world.
What is an online whiteboard?
An online whiteboard is a shared drawing surface that lives in a browser instead of on a wall. Everyone looking at it sees the same canvas, and when one person writes something the others see it appear. It replaces the moment in a lesson where a teacher would turn to the board and work through a problem - except the student can pick up the pen too, and nobody has to be in the room.
The reason it matters for tutoring is specific. Talking through algebra over video is painful: the tutor describes a step, the student tries to picture it, and neither is sure the other is looking at the same thing. Put the working on a shared canvas and that ambiguity disappears. You can see exactly where a student went wrong because you watched them write it.
What you can do on the board
| What you need | How the whiteboard does it |
|---|---|
| Work through a problem live with a student | Infinite canvas with pan and zoom from 5% to 1200%, and a pressure-sensitive pen so handwriting looks like handwriting. |
| Get a second person drawing on the same board | Share the board's link. Anyone who opens it draws immediately - no account, no invite, no seat licence. |
| See who is doing what | Each person's cursor is labelled and their strokes appear as they draw. Click an avatar to follow their view around the board. |
| Draw a neat diagram quickly | Smart drawing: sketch a rough circle, box, triangle or line and it snaps to a clean shape. Anything it cannot identify stays as ink. |
| Organise ideas rather than just draw | Sticky notes in 16 colours, text boxes, shapes with fill and centred text, and frames for sectioning a board. |
| Put a worksheet or photo on the board | Upload an image, drag one in, or paste a screenshot straight from the clipboard. |
| Give the student something afterwards | Export the whole board as a PNG image or a PDF. |
| Come back to it next lesson | Boards save themselves and stay at the same link indefinitely - the link never changes, even if you rename the board. |
How do you use it in a lesson?
There are four steps and none of them involve an account:
- 1Open a board. Nothing to sign up for - you land on a blank canvas.
- 2Copy the link and send it to your student. Whoever opens it can draw straight away.
- 3Work together. Write, sketch, drop in a photo of the worksheet, use frames to keep topics apart. Labelled cursors show who is doing what.
- 4Export to PNG or PDF at the end, so the student has the working to revise from. The board also stays at its link for next time.
What you should know before sharing a board
Because there are no accounts, the link is the only access control. Anyone who has it can open the board and edit it, so treat a board link the way you would treat a password - send it to the student you are teaching, not to a group chat. Board addresses are long random strings that the server issues, so nobody stumbles onto one by guessing, and board pages are marked noindex so they never turn up in search results.
The board is also deliberately light-only. A whiteboard is a sheet of paper: ink colours picked against a dark canvas do not survive being exported to PNG or PDF or printed, and a board shared between someone in dark mode and someone in light mode would not look the same to both.
Frequently asked questions
Is this online whiteboard free?+
Yes. It is completely free with no account and no sign-up, and there is nothing to install - it runs in any modern browser on desktop, tablet or phone, anywhere in the world.
Can two people draw on the same whiteboard at the same time?+
Yes. Share the board's link and everyone who opens it draws together in real time. Each person's cursor is labelled and their strokes appear as they make them, and you can click someone's avatar to follow their view around the canvas.
Do I need to sign up or download anything?+
No. There is no account, no sign-up and no download. Open the board, start drawing, and share the link with whoever should join you.
How do I save an online whiteboard?+
Boards save themselves as you work and stay at their link indefinitely, so you can reopen one next lesson. You can also export the whole board as a PNG image or a PDF to send to a student.
Is the whiteboard private?+
There are no accounts, so the board link is the only access control - anyone who has the link can edit the board. Treat it like a password and share it only with the people you want drawing. Individual board pages are marked noindex, so they never appear in search results.
Does the whiteboard work on an iPad or a tablet?+
Yes. It works on tablets and phones as well as desktops, and where the device reports stylus pressure the pen varies its width accordingly, so writing with an Apple Pencil or a similar stylus feels natural.
Can I use it for online tutoring or teaching?+
That is what it was built for. A tutor and student can work through a problem on the same canvas from anywhere in the world, use frames to separate topics, drop in a photo of a worksheet, and export the finished board as a PDF for revision.
